Autism Brothers Books 💙: Cappadocia Storyline
Adding Text To My New Illustrated Book For Kids
🎨 Welcome
How to format the pages with text? This is the question I’ve been working to solve recently. I’m grateful for the feedback and ideas on the cover and border questions sent to me by my readers & social media community over the past couple of weeks. This really helped me. Thank you!
I had a creative block about these aspects of the book…and sharing with you all, getting your input and feedback - that support freed up my block. I could continue to work on this book for a few more years…that’s the truh. But it’s time to move forward. I have to make these decisions are move on. How can I know when the book is truly finished?
"The Will to Believe," by William James (1842-1910) answers the question, “In the face of insufficient evidence, is it ever justifiable to believe something is true?” In this case, James said, we must take a leap of faith. (Read more here.)
In Sections 1-4, James lays out the conditions under which he believes it would be justifiable to "take a leap of faith" even when we lack evidence for the truth of our belief. He argues that leaps are justifiable in circumstances where the choices are live, and the question at hand is forced and momentous.
This idea has helped me move forward when I don’t know which way to travel. Think of it this way - a large sailing ship cannot be inspected with total confidence. There comes a point when the tide is moving and the captain has to decide if the ship is ready to sail or not. Will you go with this tide or not? And that decision must be made knowing there is always a possibility (probability) that something has been missed. But if you don’t slide out of the dock, you will never sail the sea.
So here goes…I’m setting sail.
Sending love to you. Keep going. 🌿
Good journey,
🦋 Book Cover and Pages
I chose the cave houses as my book cover painting. Wow, it was a tough decision, but ultimately I decided this was the best way to let the person browsing online or in a bookstore know that this book is about two brothers in Cappadocia.
I’m going to be posting all the pages in a series coming up this week on my Instagram. Exciting!
I chose this style to display the text on the page. I played around with different designs and finally went with a thin oval line around the text rather than a banner behind the text. I’ve added golden leaves to the corners because…well…because I think they are so pretty.
At first, all the pages in the whole book were blue. But then I decided to make the pages a series of different colors - the colors most prominent in the paintings. And it turned out like this (below).
I still need to add in the Turkish bilingual text. And also - I’m not certain how to display the “Turkish & English” sign on the cover. Getting so close to finishing! ❤️🔥

Yes--excellent!
The periwinkle is a great choice. Subtle with royal roots.
