Autism Brothers Books 💙: No Spring Skips Its Turn
Surviving the Winter Season
🎨 Welcome
How do we survive these winter months - both the physical and the creative winter seasons? I believe we do cycle through seasons with our creativity. I certainly do. There’s bursts of Spring and a long hot summer, a calming in the Autumn and then this desolate winter time. I feel it in my art - sometimes following the physical seasons, but also separate. Does anyone else experience this with your creativity?…How do we keep going during the cold nights of winter?
I’ve been searching for a good answer. I found this quote by Hal Borland and it gives me hope:
“No winter lasts forever. No spring skips its turn.”
The practical Midwesterner in me wants to suggest that some winters (like nuclear winters) do last forever, but the artist in me wants to embrace this hopeful passage with my whole heart. ❤️🔥 I’m choosing to believe that spring is on its way. I hope you’ll join me.
Good journey,
🌈 Winter - A Video
I’ve been experimenting with a new type of art - these photo videos. It’s a photo but it’s a video…I love it. This is one example of what I’ve been playing around with - I used this week’s quote and thought it went together nicely. ❄️ I’m sharing these new videos on my Instagram stories.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
🌸 Traditional Turkish Designs - Cappadocia Book
One of the things that I wanted to include in my new Cappadocia book was to be sure and use traditional Turkish designs inside my illustrations. This has been one of the biggest side projects of this major book project. It’s taken some extra time and effort, but I think that adding in these traditional designs adds a special element to the book. I’m excited for you to see them once I’ve got them all drawn up and added in. 💙
👩🏻💻 Instagram / Social Media Break
I’m back on Instagram @EmilyLupitaSeries after taking an intentional break from all social media. I still haven’t made it back onto FB or any other platform. Please help me continue to reach out by sharing this newsletter with someone you think may be interested.
❤️🔥
The vines are bare of all but tiny buds that contain a world of growth and beauty. Stay by my side when my words are scarce. Warm me with the promise of new blooms
Love the video! And the recognition that we have physical seasons and creative seasons. I try to tune into both and discover what they have to offer.
