🎨 Welcome
This quote by Rumi struck me right in the center of my emotional and creative being…just like the arrows in this Lupita portrait.
“The wailing of a broken heart is an open doorway to God.”
I’ve recited this quote aloud - again and again - as almost a mantra over the past several weeks. It seems to help calm the fears I have about the future of my broken heart somehow. I imagine I’m trying to make it true by repeating it so much . ❤️🔥 I don’t know if this IS true - if the wailing of our broken hearts are open doorways to God - but I hope so.
That’s how I’ve been. I wasn’t even able to write my weekly posting here, which is rare. I missed sharing my art projects and hearing back from you.
How are you?
Good journey,
🌈 Winter - A Video
I’m continuing with my photo / video art. It’s a good meditation for me. I’ve undergone a rather intensive physical change over the past year - among many other types of changes. Creating art from my self-portraits are a way for me to process these changes, I think.
I’m sharing these new videos on my Instagram stories.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
🌸 Cappadocia Book - Last Section of the Marathon
The end of the marathon is within sight! I’ve been steadily working on my new Cappadocia book every night and it’s coming together. It’s good to see all the pages at once and realize what an effort this took to get to the end of the book. Now I’m editing the story a bit and doing some extra detail work on the paintings. It’s fun and fills me with a certain type of joy that nothing else does.💙
👩🏻💻 Instagram / Social Media Break
I’m back on Instagram @EmilyLupitaSeries after taking an intentional break from all social media. This week I’m trying out a recommendation from someone - as a mindfulness practice - where I don’t post but only read. Maybe this will help my dread of social media a bit. (?) Please help me continue to reach out by sharing this newsletter with someone you think may be interested.
❤️🔥
I'm hoping for peace for you, Emily, as you move through this season of your life. We go through so many seasons during a lifetime, don't we? I hope you will soon see the beginnings of a more peaceful one. 💕
I am sorry for all of your pain. Intentional stillness and breathing help me, when I move through very difficult periods. I will hold you in my heart, from Iowa.
