🎨 Welcome
In this painting above, Lupita is going for a refreshing swim in the creek with her neighborly muskrat.
What you can’t see is that - under water - Lupita is paddling like hell. This reminds me of the unseen effort in creativity. A final creative project - like my painting above - often represents only a fraction of the work that went into creating it.
My art projects usually start a few years before the final paintings or book is finished. Right now I’m beginning a new project - maybe to start painting sometime this summer…book ready perhaps this time next year.
However long it takes you to start and finish your creative projects, I am sending love to you. Whatever the situation, I hope you will keep going toward your creative dreams.
Good journey,

🌸 The New Project - A Beginning
My art projects begin in many ways. This is the first one that’s started online. I chose Instagram because I like the squares. Here’s how it is beginning.
I’m posting my self-portrait paintings alongside some self-portrait photography. I’m doing it almost daily. It helps me reflect on my life, on my body of artwork, on my education and career, and on my relationships.
I’m looking toward a new chapter in my life…living here in Türkiye long-term and what that all means. I’m wondering if art imitates life…or the other way around?
I’m still working daily on my Cappadocia book, but this new project is starting to simmer just below the surface. That’s normal for me…to have several projects in different stages at once. Let’s see what happens next. 💗
I have a goal to post my new portraits and videos up on my Instagram account as they flow out. I hope to connect with you there as well. @EmilyLupitaSeries

I love your self portrait paintings, Emily. Just beautiful!
Love it!
