Hello! I’m Emily Lupita. I’m a Latina artist & travel writer from rural Iowa, currently living between Iowa City and Ankara, the capital of Turkiye. I’m also a teacher & editor.

Sharing My Step-By-Step Creative Process As I Make My Next Book
I'm sharing my creative process step-by-step as I write my next children's book. My goal is to write, illustrate, and publish this new book - all this year - in 2025.
I have twelve months to finish.
This is the fifth book I’ve written & illustrated using this technique, and I love to share what I’ve learned over the years. I’m happy to answer questions - please let me know in the comments.

🎨 Step #1: Brain Storming
* Gathering my notes
*Re-reading journals
* Sketching out ideas
* Naming main characters
* Say book title ideas aloud
* Be wild and free
Examples From My Book:
🦋 Step #2: Book Title
* List the reasons why you are writing this book
*List your target audience
* List your social goal
* List the main message of the book or lesson it teaches
🌸 Step #3: Page Layout
*Start with the total number of pages
*Draw each blank page small enough that they are all on one or two sheets of paper
* Start sketching ideas
* Rearrange as needed
