Hello! I’m Emily Lupita.
I write this Substack - Emily Lupita Explores - a creativity journal where I share explorations from my writing desk & art projects, plus illustrated stories of travel adventures with my two Autistic sons.
About
🦋 Writer:
I’m an American Latina travel writer originally from rural Iowa. My writing focuses on cultural explorations of identity & place. My journey has taken me to Mexico & Canada, Central & South America, and Europe & Japan. Now I live between Iowa City and Ankara, the capital of Turkiye.
🎨 Artist:
I’m a watercolor artist with four published books of my Lupita portrait artwork & stories for children 📚 and a little one-woman art shop.🛍️
💙 Founder:
In 2023, I founded Autism Brothers Books, an inclusive book series, so my sons (and other Autistic kids) could see themselves in the books we read.
🌿Editor:
I’m the editor of American Bardic Poet, about the poetry of Joseph S. Plum, and a member of the international team at The Daily Sabah, one of the largest English-language newspapers in the Middle East. I’m also a Master Writing Advisor with MedSchool Coach, advising an international client list of medical school students.
